Great Things Never Came From Comfort Zones

With heavy hearts, and even bigger smiles, we announced to our team earlier today that our crazy, fearless, funny, and creative Head Chef, Steven Brochu, will have his last day with Chartier on Friday, February 15th.

Chef Steve has decided that his entrepreneurial spirit could be stifled no more, and has accepted an opportunity to branch out on his own. He is starting his own venture in Southeast Edmonton where he will have the chance to run his own cafeteria and catering operation.

As you all know, Steve was instrumental in lifting Chartier off the ground following our Kickstarter campaign. He was willing to take a huge leap of faith back in 2015 - seeing an opportunity to partner with a nutty husband and wife duo that had a vision for what good food in Beaumont could look like. Through the opening, countless menu changes, staff changes, and environmental changes, Chef Steve was at the helm of our ship, ensuring that we always delivered on the promise to be a "5 star restaurant in a 5 star town".

We have no doubt that this vision, ability to take risks, and ability to persevere through adversity will lead him to great places as he starts his own adventure. He remains a friend of Chartier, and leaves behind a legacy of positive culture, creativity, and kindness.

In the coming weeks, we will be working hard to search for the perfect replacement for this important role. We’ll be filming a head chef recruitment video with our friends from Production Loft, similar to what we did 4 years ago (here), in order to access the broader culinary community and promote the exciting opportunity that lies ahead.

While we are always sad to see a member of our family move on, we're full of optimism and excitement for what lies ahead. As Beaumont transitions from town to city, we transition alongside it in the next phase of our own journey.

As always, we thank you for your support, love, and hunger.
